Losing the weight may seem like an impossible dream. Motivation can slip away over time. How is it that some people don’t have this problem? Many people lose weight and stay lean. How on earth do they manage to accomplish that?
The first step in weight loss is to set out clear aims. Have you calculated how much weight you want to lose? What is your overall goal for weight loss? Do you want to lose a lot of weight, or just wear your current clothes more comfortably? Do you want to be more shapely, or do you want to have more energy?
Keeping weekly records of your weight-loss progress is a useful tool that keeps you aware. Writing down your weight once a week, and keeping a written record of everything you eat and drink will help you decide to continue what you are doing, or make changes to your eating habits. Taking note of what you eat will inspire healthier eating in the future.
Hunger usually results in unhealthy food decisions. You need to make sure that you are snacking on healthy foods during the day, so that you do not reach that starvation level. Schedule your meals in advance and have snacks on hand. Instead of dining out, pack your own lunch. In addition to being low in calories it will also help you save some money. Being very hungry usually results in making poor food choices. Don’t wait until you’re starving to sit down to a meal. Have a schedule for your meals, and also have a healthy snack close to hand in case you need it. Bring your lunch with you instead of going out to eat. You will save money, and be able to better keep track of the number of calories you are consuming.
A truly great weight loss plan will focus on both diet and exercise. Clear your schedule for a few hours a week to enjoy some fun workouts. If you just can’t seem to find the time to workout, try incorporating exercise into more enjoyable activities. Do you enjoy spending time with your friends? Go with them on a bike riding adventure. Do you enjoy just forgetting about your worries and enjoying yourself? Sign up for some type of dancing lessons. Do you escape life by going out into nature? Go on a hike in the great outdoors or explore your local park.
Throw away any unhealthy food that is found in your cupboards. Stock your pantry with only healthy food that’s good for you so that it’s all you’ll have to eat. If you make it difficult to get your hands on the high calorie junk food, it will be far less appealing and you will not eat as much of it.
Ask your friends to become your support system as you try to lose weight. They might not be able to lose the weight for you, but their unconditional support is the next best thing. Having to answer to someone other than yourself can help keep you from giving up when you are feeling discouraged. Your friends are there to help cheer you on, so whenever you need a good pep talk, reach out to connect. Just hearing their voice should be a reminder of how important it is for you to succeed!
