[B&A] Huge PCOS acne improvement, one month of no alcohol. | Kr Laser

I have PCOS and have suffered for years with acne. This includes deep cystic acne on my face and body (groin, back, chest, breasts).

I decided to quit booze for one month since I hadn’t tried it before. Shocked, no active pimples! And a reduction in cystic bumps under the skin. Incredible improvement, IMO. It’s the only thing thats had a significant positive impact on my skin.

I would say I was a heavy drinker during lockdown since March, having 5-8 drinks on a weekend, and 1-2 a night through the week. Please, no judgement to me (or to anyone who drinks) I love to get on the booze (clearly, I mean look at my skin before 😂).

My routine has been the same since the beginning of the year which had kept things manageable.

**AM:**

* The Ordinary Squalene Cleanser
* Ego QV ultra calming moisturiser (this is a cheaper Aussie dupe for CeraVe which we can only get in the tiny sizes here)
* La Roche Posay spf50+ facial sunscreen

**PM:**

* The Ordinary Squalene Cleanser
* Ego QV ultra calming moisturiser
* Epiduo forte 2.5% (adapalene) – only on problem areas, jawline
* The Ordinary Niacinamide

**Skin type:** Combo / Sensitive

***Does anyone have any suggestions for reducing redness?***

**Medication:** *As a side note, I was on spironolactone for 3 months at the beginning of the year. It absolutely made my skin smoother, but the acne was still appearing and the side effects were awful for me, so I stopped in July.*

**Diet:** PCOS people may ask. No changes to my diet, I eat relatively healthy (lots of veggies and fruit, but some meat, some dairy, some carbs). I will still eat crappy things here and there, only human! I also have started drinking spearmint tea last week, we shall see if this keeps the testosterone at bay. I have lost a lot of weight around my stomach quickly, not sure how much but my pants fit again.

**Mental health:** Anxiety and stress levels have been so much better. At first it got worse though, but then after 2 weeks the cravings were pretty much gone.

I hope this helps someone else. It took me so long to figure it out!
